Developed in 1925 by the Gracie family, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has been practiced, perfected, and continually tested in real life situations. Jiu-jitsu is based on real life applications of martial art techniques that really WORK.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the only self-defense system that effectively addresses ground fighting
- 95% of all real fights will go into a clinch and eventually end up on the ground
- Ground fighting techniques are the most important, yet most neglected aspect in other fighting styles
- Because BJJ techniques do not require strength, it is an ideal style for a smaller, weaker person to escape or defeat a larger, stronger person.

The overall fighting strategy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is designed to equip a physically smaller or weaker individual with an effective method of defending against a larger and stronger attacker. When applying BJJ techniques, leverage is paramount, as leverage is the secret to the amplification and most efficient use of force. BJJ also has the most developed methods of fighting while on one's back, a position weaker fighters will often find themselves when attacked.

No matter what your size or the size of your opponent, you will learn how to defend yourself!
